Julian Bell

My name is Julian Bell, I am an artist living in Ashland with my wife and two children who provide a lot of support and distraction from painting.  My goal is to paint images that invite the viewer into a different world of serene happiness.  I try to remind the viewer that the world we live in is curiously arranged and strangely colored, which maybe you can only see by stopping and staring, or by happening upon a different viewfinder borrowed from an unfamiliar observer.  My work aspires to the bones of Hokusai, the geometry of Stuart Davis, the action of Herge, and the impasto of Monet.  I hope by climbing onto these shoulders my paintings can take the viewer further.
