mixed media

I am a wood-burning and mixed-media artist based in Talent, Oregon. Using an ancient technique often associated with traditional craft, I create intricate works of fine art. At the heart of my practice is the interplay between materials often perceived as “masculine,” such as plywood, and imagery rooted in “feminine” traditions like hair braiding and weaving.

My work investigates the narratives—past and present—that define and often diminish femininity, casting it as weaker, less intelligent, or of lesser value. Each piece is also a meditation on time: wood-burning is a slow, labor-intensive process that requires hours of concentrated focus. This deliberate pace becomes part of the meaning, underscoring the worth of time spent with care and intention.

In a culture that constantly fragments our attention, designed to capture and release it in an instant, I aim to create work that invites stillness. My pieces are moments of quiet reflection—spaces where viewers can pause, notice, and connect amid the noise of daily life.
